BRAIDWOOD 15th JAN

Challenge Trophy

Another chilly but bright day welcomed a field of almost 60 guns to Braidwood for the Midlem Ground’s second sporting shoot of the year.  Donald Livingston (Edinburgh) put in a strong 36 ex 40 in defence of the Challenge Trophy but Jim Brodie (Denholm) dug in deep to produce a fantastic 38 stealing the win.  Billy Williamson (Linlithgow Bridge) pulled out a 35 to land third slot and pull himself further up the winter series ladder.

Jim Henderson, visiting from Cumbria, popped in a score of 37 ex 40 to win the second layout.  This time Livingston shared runner-up slot on 36 again with four other clubmates while Brodie was part of a chasing pack of three on 34.

Brodie and Livingston were the only men to break 70 or more clays on the day both finishing with an Aggregate of 72 ex 80 for their day’s sport.  Gordon Boertien (Lockerbie) carded 69.  Stuart Dawson (Bedlington) was only a shot away with Davie Scott (Haddington) fourth highest overall on 67

The next shoot is on Sunday 29th January. Stuart Dawson has the opportunity to defend the ‘Big Stirrer’.  Entries close at Noon.  All welcome
