DTL MATTERS

February 2012.

Team Captains:

The captain of each individual category will be the shooter with the highest combined score after the Scottish Championship, in that category, and who has indicated that they would like to be considered. These will be the competitors who shoot for the captain’s cups in their respective categories at the HCIT.

The overall captain will be decided by ballot of all team members, again from those team members who have indicated that they would like to be considered for this position.

DTL Layouts:

The number of DTL layouts required to host SCTA selection shoots was agreed at the 2006 AGM as two and although there was some discussion regarding the number of entries which could be accepted on two layouts it was decided to leave this to the discretion of the grounds.

Medals for HCIT and the BO:

There was some confusion at last years HCIT regarding the badges and medals to be presented this ultimately led to an un-necessary shoot off for some of our senior competitors.

The ICTSC (International Clay Target Shooting Council) have now revisited this matter and the position for future events is as follows.

The High Gun of each HCIT will receive a silver medal and in DTL the Runner-up will also receive a silver medal.

In addition the HG of each senior team will receive a silver-plated medal and the Runner-up a badge.

In the BO DTL silver medals will be awarded to the winner, second and third placed competitors, the cost of these medals to be borne by the host ground and purchased from the ICTSC.

European and World DTL Championships 2012:

The SCTA would like to be represented at both of these events and proposes to send two senior teams of five each, and one team of three from each of the other categories, if there is sufficient demand.

All potential team members would be required to pre-enter on their own account and SCTA would pay the team registration fee for those who qualify, expenses will not be paid for this event.

Qualification will be based on scores achieved in the Scottish Championship and team places will be allocated from the highest score in the normal way.

Scottish Championship DTL Trophies:

I was asked to consider the reallocation of three of our trophies currently presented in this championship they are,

  1. The Atholl Cup
  2. The Redhead Shield
  3. The Alan Cathro Quaich

Items 1 and 2 are two of our oldest trophies, the Atholl Cup being first presented in 1933, and the Redhead Shield I think in the late 50s. Many well-known shooters have won them over the years and it is perhaps fitting that they be given a more prominent position in the event.

The suggestion was as follows:

The Atholl Cup to move to first in AA day 2.

The Redhead Shield to move to first in A day 2

The Alan Cathro Quaich would return to its intended function as the 200 kills cup.

The board having discussed this have agreed to implement it for the 2012 championship.
