Strong showing from Scottish Shooters

Over the last week or so we have had some strong performances from our shooters at home and abroad, Sian Bruce made the Women’s Skeet final at the Green Cup in Italy at Umbriaverde, Greg Trowell also  shot well in Italy with a new PB in Trap. At the same event Max Jeffrey shot a new Scottish record and personal best at Double Trap taking the Bronze medal, he followed that up on his return home at the GB selection shoot at Nuthampstead winning the British Junior Championship. At the same GB selection shoot Calum Fraser finished in second place also shooting a new PB.

Well done to them all,

George Wood.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Now that the dust has settled on the highly successful Glasgow Commonwealth games. We can look back on the great achievement of Drew Christie in winning the men's Skeet Silver medal.

Whilst there is little that can be said to alleviate the disappointment that I know our trap shooters are feeling, I would suggest that it's worth reflecting on the world class level of shooting that carried them through the selection procedure and the many international competitions where they featured on the podium en route. Well done to all of you.

As with all events of this magnitude there is a heavy reliance on volunteers. SCTA volunteers and families were very much to the fore in all aspects of the organisation of the shooting from general assistance through to refereeing finals.  For this we extend many thanks for your part in Barry Buddon's success.

Finaly warmest congratulations  to the Scottish team on their medal achievements both in shooting and other sports.

Also congratulations to the shooters from other countries who won medals.

Before we know it the 21st Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast, Australia will be here.

Thanks again to you all.

Willie Lamont
